Is the jailbreak actually dead? We hear this everyday from a lot of people, some with good reasons to say that, some just relating what they’ve heard from others… Jailbreak has been a thing since 2007 when the first iPhone came out. Did we finally reach the point where we lost?

Jailbreaking was always a battle between Apple and very talented hackers who wanted to break the security Apple implements for fun or profit. For years and years we’ve seen multiple iterations of many jailbreaks. Those of you who’ve been jailbreaking ever since the first #iPhone, may remember all the teams of jailbreakers that used to release this precious piece of software (like the iPhone Dev Team).

Some of you, who are newer to the scene, may only remember #Pangu, or Taig from back on the iOS 7.x, iOS 8.x and iOS 9.x era, but no matter which one you remember, the #Jailbreak has always been working based on the same concepts – you break Apple’s security to load Cydia, the substrate and other components in order to install tweaks, themes and to have access to the entire system. There were a lot of jailbreak teams since 2007, but the reason to jailbreak has never chanced.

Recently we’ve seen a slowdown in the number of jailbreak releases and the jailbreaks we did get (Pangu’s last jailbreak and Yalu) were semi-untethered (you needed to deploy an IPA and use the app after every reboot). Nowadays it is harder and harder to jailbreak, and the jailbreaks have became so unstable, even saurik, the creator of #Cydia doesn’t recommend jailbreaking anymore, but is the jailbreak dead?

Well, in my opinion (could be wrong). there will always be new security researchers interested into breaking Apple’s security. Yes, it will get harder and harder, as Apple learns a lot from exploit developers, but I don’t the jailbreak will completely die. There is another threat, not Apple implementing newer mitigation techniques, but Apple implementing features from jailbreak to the iOS itself, starting to make the Jailbreak less appealing.

Just my 2cents, feel free to say your opinion in the comments section down bellow.
